There are some friends you'll never forget...no matter how hard you try.

Before Edie is the friend that Heather has always craved. But one night it goes terrifyingly wrong. And what started as an innocent friendship ends in two lives being destroyed.

After Sixteen years later Edie is still rebuilding her life. But Heather isn't ready to let her forget so easily. It's no coincidence that she shows up when Edie needs her most.

Now Edie or Heather? Heather or Edie? Someone has to pay for what happened, but who will it be?

Watching Edie (Audible Audio Edition) Camilla Way Chloe Massey Kathryn Griffiths HarperCollins Publishers Limited Books

Why is Edie upset when her childhood friend, Heather, supposedly her "best friend" at one time, appears at her door. Edie hasn’t seen Heather for 15 years, but there is a darkness associated with Edie's recollections of Heather. The reader seems to know that something bad happened, but yet Heather is there for Edie, to help her with her pregnancy, to help care for Edie's baby, to tend to Edie's needs. Heather moves in to Edie's apartment, to be close at hand to offer help. But Edie begins to resent Heather and wonders what is going on in her mind. Could she have forgotten what happened in their past?

The suspense about their true past relationship builds. As the reader, I know some nasty business was back there, in their shared past, but Edie can't seem to even bring it to mind. I wondered: "What happened - and - How BAD could it be?" When the past starts to become unveiled I find out: YES - it is bad, beyond imagination, beyond forgiveness.

This book kept me reading, and my opinions as to the nature of Edie and Heather shifted back and forth. The ending was a total shocker.

A Terrific Read!

Watching Edie (Audible Audio Edition) Camilla Way Chloe Massey Kathryn Griffiths HarperCollins Publishers Limited Books Reviews

Interesting from befinni u to the end. I had tofoece myself not to skip pages, just to find out what happens next. I was really shocked at the revelation.
This book drew me in right away and I couldn't put it down. It's been weeks since I finished it and it still haunts me. I have to keep reminding myself it was just a book, that characters aren't real. (I've never felt this way about a book before)
I absolutely loved this book. It is brilliantly written to th very last page. Th two main character are so complex you are really left wondering and wanting to know more as the story unfolds..the climax is so utterly full of suspense it leaves the reader surprised to th last page. Excellent read.
Watching Edie is a page turner that keeps the reader at the edge of his/her seat. It is a psychological portrait of two girls who become complicated women. Their seemingly symbiotic relationship has already unraveled when they were teens, but it is revitalized years later when their contrasting needs emerge. The novel is well-written and involves so many themes including parenting, perversion, attraction, friendship, and even murder. It will leave the reader pondering so many issues that touch his/her real life.
I enjoyed the before/after back and forth and felt the author did a great job developing Edie and Heather's voices. It was a quick read and she kept you dying to know what happened in their past. Unfortunately, the story fell flat at the end. HUGE disappointment. So much suspense is built up and I understand she wanted to make a twist at the end but it just didn't work logically and actually contradicted earlier parts of the book which was annoying.
Possible spoiler At first the writing style was really hard for me to follow. About the third chapter I finally found the rhythm and I began to understand what was going on. From then on, the story drew me in and I was unable to put the book down. I stayed absorbed right up to the end where the author slammed on the brakes and threw me over the cliff with one of the worst endings I have ever read. What a letdown.
I loved the author's newest book, The Lies We Told, so much I immediately ordered this one. I ended up enjoying this one as well and think Camilla Way does an awesome job at telling these creepy but entertaining stories.

Edie is pregnant and alone when a friend from her past comes back into her life. She tries to avoid her but Heather is there for Edie when she needs her most. And let's just say things start to get weird.

I was thoroughly entertained and I loved the dual timelines of Edie in the present and Heather's perspective of what happened when they were teenagers. I'll admit even as I was enjoying the story, I couldn't help but think the premise is fairly basic and not really anything we haven't seen before. However, by the end of the novel I came to realize the author managed to craft a complex tale with many layers. I highly recommend giving this book a chance. I read this a few days ago and I'm still thinking about it.
